Microsoft rendered 3D map of NY

The New Mapping Technology

We bet you've never seen maps like this before, but they're coming to a computer and cell phone near you. 3D maps that not only show buildings and allow you to zoom in, but show current traffic conditions also. At Microsoft it's known as Virtual Earth. At Google it's known as Google Earth. With either mapping process you can zoom right down to street view. While these applications are very memory intensive, expect them to be in common use within the next 18-24 months as PCs and cell phones gain additional memory.
