FAQ's

Can I use an answering service with OnTime?

Yes. Contact your answering service company and have them download a copy of OnTime Dispatch. The download is free of charge. After installing the program, and after you have set them up as a user with dispatch permissions under your account, the answering service personnel will be able to log in and dispatch orders.

What's the advantage to subscribing to OnTime rather than buying the software?

There are a variety of advantages to subscribing. When you subscribe you won't have an initial high upfront costs as you do when purchasing business software as licensing fees are built into the monthly subscription charges. As a subscriber there are also no upgrade fees when new products are marketed as you will always have the newest version of the product. Subscribing allows you to "pay as you go" so you always know what your technology costs are on a continuing basis.

What additional hardware do I need to use OnTime?

Unlike other systems available today, the OnTime platform and system are built entirely on open standards, eliminating the requirement for hardware upgrades for your current computers. You can continue using your current PCs and servers.

What's the difference between the terms products, modules and applicatons?

Applications are the specific tasks that you would use in a software program such as drivers clocking in and out, payroll or shipment tracking. There are hundreds of different applications. Modules are composed of applications of which there are many in each module. Modules focus on results to accomplish a specific task and will generally use more than one application to accomplish that task. As an example, to generate payroll for employees you'd want to use several different applications (drivers electronic time cards, mileage driven, etc) and the module combines the applications required to generate payroll into a single program. The OnTime system has three modules: Dispatch, Management and Mobile. There are many applications in each of these modules. Products combine the modules into specific arenas in order for you to run your business. Your knowledge of what you need to run your business would determine which product you would purchase.

I'm a customer that ships several hundred packages per day with a variety of carriers and I receive monthly reports from each of them. Is there anything OnTime can do to consolidate all the information I receive into a single report?

Yes. If the carriers you utilize also use OnTime the information can be consolidated into a single report that can be generated as often as you would like. For those carriers that do not utilize OnTime, you could direct them to send the data to OnTime to be put into the report.

I don't have any IT people. How difficult is it to set up the OnTime system?

The system is very easy to install. If desired, video tutorials are available for installation as well as live technical support.

How much does OnTime cost?

Pricing for OnTime products can be found here: Subscription | Purchase

Can my customers interact with the OnTime system?

Yes. Not only can they trace and track orders from your website, they can also dispatch orders based upon parameters that you define, reducing your dispatching costs.

I don't have a website. Can OnTime help me develop one?

Yes but the cost of development is an additional cost that is not included in the OnTime system.

What kind of mobile devices and cell phones are supported by OnTime?

OnTime Mobile can be used on internet enabled cell phones, devices that support WAP, and Pocket PC phones. Nearly any device that can access the internet can be used with OnTime.

Which Pocket PC phones are supported?

OnTime will operate on any Windows Mobile 2003, 2003 SE, and Mobile 5 device.

Which cell carriers are supported?

OnTime has been engineered to work with the data networks of all cell carriers, including GSM, Edge, EVO, and CDMA offered by companies such as Sprint, Verizon, t-Mobile, and Cingular.

What types of pricing models are supported in the OnTime Dispatch program?

OnTime supports three different methods of pricing an order at the time of dispatch. For contracted rates with a customer, a zone based price set table can be utilized. Mileage based deliveries can be priced in numerous ways based on the distance between the origin and destination. All other pricing needs can be specified as a flat rate fee.

My current zone to zone pricing is to/from the center of zip codes, causing me to lose money. Is OnTime any different?

OnTime's zone and mileage calculation is very accurate. Unlike other mileage systems which calculate from the middle of a zone or zip code to the middle of another zone or zip code, OnTime calculates exact mileage between any two points.

Why should I use a hosted service? Isn’t it better to have the system on my own server?

You're probably aware that IT costs are unpredictable and can place a real burden on your business. The OnTime System gives you predictable, monthly IT expenses by eliminating the costs of upgrades, monitoring, software patching and disruptions to your infrastructure. We give you the flexibility to choose from scalable options that grow with your business so you don’t pay for more than you use. This allows you to redirect IT resources, reduce unanticipated support costs and plan expenses accurately.

How much does tech support cost?

As a hosted subscriber service, basic technical support for all OnTime products and services is included in the cost of the monthly service fee. This includes assistance with setup, normal use, and mobile device configuration. There is no expiration of the technical support as long as you have an active OnTime hosted account. This includes phone, email, and community based support. If you choose to purchase OnTime there is a maintenance fee of 10% or 20% of the total cost of the product dependent upon the type of support you desire.

If I lose my connection to the internet will I still be able to use OnTime Dispatch?

Yes. OnTime Dispatch can work without an internet connection, allowing the dispatcher to continue to create orders. When the internet connection becomes active again, the dispatcher can submit the outstanding orders thereby updating your system.

My company uses pagers to communicate with drivers, does OnTime support that technology?

Yes. OnTime is designed to work with your current technology investments, meaning that it supports a wide range of mobile devices. While the best results are seen with a Windows Mobile device, OnTime Mobile scales down to basic cell phones and pagers. One-way and two-way pagers are supported through OnTime’s text messaging platform.
